Jules Moigniez (1835-1894) A Superb pair of 19thc Patinated Bronze figures of Racehorses and Jockeys. Both with incised signatures to the base ' J.Moigniez'. One with incised inscription to base 'A Vant La Course' , the other 'Retour Au Pesage'. Both mounted on Italian Marmoro Portoro Negro marble bases.

One of the leading French animalier sulptors, over the course of a forty year career Moigniez exhibited thirty works at the Paris Salon. More than half his sculptures were sold during his lifetime to the United Kingdom. By the end of the 19th c his work had also become very popular in the United States
