Set of Six Elm and Ash Stick Back Chairs

A Set of Six Elm and Ash Stick Back Chairs. These chairs have the government utility mark which was introduced in 1940's due to rationing. They were made to a very strict standard and could only be purchased by people who had lost the contents of there houses due to fire or bombing. A committee of people who had arts and crafts backgrounds choose the designs there were only two companies that made the chairs Moss and Partners and Lucian Ercolarni. These were possibly made by Ercolarni as they have the W and he was based at High Wycombe. It was the start of forming Ercol after the war. Seat Height 46 cm
