Peter Kuhfeld (British b.1952) - Jemimah Sewing - Oil on Board - inscribed with title and dated 1987, Provenance W H Patterson, london. Highly sought after
Born in Cheltenham, Peter Kuhfeld studied art at Leicester Polytechnic and ,after a brief period teaching at Rugby School of Art, proceeded with his studies at the Royal Academy Schools under Peter Greenham, RA. He has won numerous prizes, particularly for drawing, was elected member of the NEAC in 1986 and as a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in 1992.
Kuhfeld accompanied HRH The Prince of Wales in 1991 on a trip to Africa and Japan, which resulted at a notable exhibition at Agnew’s. He was subsequently invited once again, in 2004, to accompany HRH to Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia and he has painted the Prince’s portrait.
Though some of the present selection was in fact executed in the studio, a holiday atmosphere permeates much of Kuhfelds work, which belies the skill involved in their production. Like many of the NEAC members, he is a frequent visitor to Italy and excels in the depiction of classical architecture and ruins.
