Vintage Steiff Rocking Donkey on Original Metal Rocking Frame German, circa 1970's

A charming vintage Steiff rocking donkey, beautifully made in Germany and retaining its original silver Steiff button in the ear. Upholstered in soft cream mohair with contrasting black mane and tail, this delightful piece sits on its original painted tubular steel rocking frame and remains in good original condition. Steiff has long been regarded as one of the world’s finest makers of plush animals and nursery toys, celebrated for exceptional craftsmanship and quality. This example can be dated to approximately 1978–1988 by the presence of its silver Steiff ear button, a style introduced in the late 1970s, together with the remains of the original yellow ear tag. The construction, painted tubular steel rocking frame and original fittings are all consistent with Steiff production from this period.The donkey retains its original safety eyes, stitched detailing, synthetic leather hooves and original metal rocker with wing-nut fixings. Although the yellow Steiff ear tag has been lost over time, the original silver Steiff button remains in place, confirming its authenticity.

Condition: Presented in good vintage condition with gentle wear consistent with age and use. The mohair remains attractive, the rocking frame is sturdy, and the original silver Steiff button is still present. There are expected signs of age to the painted metal frame, and the yellow ear tag is no longer present
