Set of Four Ercol Model 608 Spindle Back Dining Chairs 1960's

A stylish and practical set of four vintage Ercol Model 608 dining chairs, beautifully combining the warmth of natural elm with the elegant simplicity of British mid-century design. A handsome and increasingly sought-after example of British mid-century furniture design, combining Ercol’s enduring craftsmanship with a distinctive two-tone finish.

Each chair features a generously shaped solid elm seat, displaying attractive natural grain and a rich honey-coloured patina, together with a gently curved elm top rail.

The slender spindle backs, splayed beech legs and supporting stretchers have been later painted in a striking ebony-black finish, creating a particularly attractive contrast with the original natural timber seats and top rails.

The chairs retain their characteristic Ercol proportions, with gently reclining spindle backs, shaped seats and distinctive tapered legs, reflecting the company’s celebrated combination of traditional craftsmanship and modern, functional design.

Designed for everyday use, these chairs are both lightweight and robust, making them equally suitable for a country kitchen, contemporary dining room or mid-century inspired interior.

The combination of natural elm and ebony-black detailing gives this classic Ercol design a fresh, understated appearance, allowing the chairs to sit comfortably in both traditional and modern surroundings.

Condition: Good vintage condition, with attractive age-related character to the elm seats and top rails. The beech frames, legs and spindles have been later painted ebony-black.
