A Magnificent Pair of Circa 1940 Gilt Brass Chandeliers

An impressive and decorative pair of large-scale chandeliers dating from circa 1940, beautifully cast in brass and subsequently gold plated. Each chandelier is centred by a finely modelled baluster stem rising to a crown-form canopy and issuing twelve scrolling arms, richly ornamented with acanthus leaves, floral detailing and pierced scrollwork.

The arms terminate in classical candle sconces, creating a balanced and elegant silhouette with excellent light distribution. The quality of the casting is evident throughout, with crisp detailing and a deep, warm gilt finish that reflects light superbly.

Of grand proportions—150 cm high and 120 cm wide and deep—these chandeliers are ideally suited to large reception rooms, entrance halls, ballrooms or double-height interiors. The pair retains a strong classical influence, recalling earlier French ormolu designs, yet executed with the solidity and confidence characteristic of mid-20th-century craftsmanship

The chandeliers have been fully rewired, PAT tested, fitted with new sockets and properly earthed, making them ready for immediate installation.

Offered in excellent condition and presented as a true matching pair, they combine decorative impact with practicality and would make a striking statement in both traditional and contemporary interiors.
